‘Metamorphosis’We were tasked with desinging for an adaptation of Kafka’s Metemorphosis which would take place at the Lyric. I was heavily inspired by the song ‘The dance Macarbe’ and the cyclical nature of the story.

I wanted to amplify the circular narrative by placing an emphasis of the circles in the set, and having it performed in the round. With a large stained glass window, retelling the story looms over the backdrop of a church which in turn added another level of grief  to the story. A place that is widely known for retribution is the place where we, the audience, is watching the destruction of a man. Having the floor intentionally be an extremely reflective material to not only reflect the stained glass but to continue the connection to the themes.
